This is one amongst our
favourite recipes for the vacations. I follow the directions with one
adjustment. each cook desires some go-to vegetable facet dishes in her back
pocket. thus allow us to introduce you to at least one that we wish to serve at
essentially each single meal: broccoli and cauliflower gratin. It brings 2
veggies along in tinny harmony, and what may be tastier than that? Tasty,

INGREDIENTS

- 5 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 sweet onion, finely cut
- 1 garlic, minced
- ¼ cup general-purpose flour
- 1½ cups milk
- ½ cup cream
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 head broccoli, remove bite-size florets
- 1 head cauliflower, remove bite-size florets
- 1 cup grated Gruyere cheese
- ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS
- Heat the kitchen appliance to 400°F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch casserole dish with one tablespoon of the butter.
- In a very medium pot, heat one tablespoon of the butter over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté till semitransparent, four to five minutes. Add the garlic and cook till scented, one minute a lot of.
- Add the remaining three tablespoons butter to the pot and soften utterly. Stir within the flour to mix. Cook, stirring often, till the mixture is gently golden in color, a pair of to three minutes.
- Add the milk bit by bit to the pot, employing a whisk to mix. Do constant with the cream then bring the mixture to a simmer, whisking perpetually till the sauce is thick enough to coat a spoon, five to seven minutes.
- Season the sauce with the nutmeg, salt and pepper. Add the broccoli and cauliflower to the pot and toss well to completely coat.
